Is your email list floundering? If you’re not seeing much growth on your list, it’s time to get proactive. There’s no shortage of ways to boost your email list numbers, but here are a few of the most effective methods.
Sell your list.
Don’t assume people will sign up just because you have a form in the sidebar. Remind people frequently why they should sign up to receive information from you. When you remind them on a regular basis, people are bound to sign up. Remember that most people require exposure to an idea 7-15 times before they will actually take action.
It may sound odd, but changing up the color of your submit button and even your email form may be just the ticket to more subscribers. Kissmetrics did a test that showed a button that changes from red to green can boost opt-in rates by up to 40%.
Share your emails.
Have you ever noticed people sharing links to an online form of their email newsletter? This can give people a sneak peek of what you offer in your emails, plus they’ll have a chance to sign up if they like it. Spread those links far and wide! You can post on social media, blogs, and even in some blog comments. Share them in your emails, too, if you have multiple lists.
Change your sign-up button.
Does your current button read “Submit” or “Sign Up”? If so, it’s time to change that. You want your sign up button text to catch your reader’s attention and make them want to click it. To do this, relate to them by adding “me” to the text.
For example, you might write “Start My Free Trial” or “Give Me My Bonus!” Both of these wordings are more likely to call to the reader and will encourage them to click.
Get commenters to sign up.
When people interact on your site, you know that they’re interested in what you’re writing, so why not take advantage of that? You have several options here. You can redirect commenters to a thank you page where they can sign up for your email list, or you can add a simple check box to the comment section that allows people to accept emails once they comment.
